Most people come to coaching with a problem.

They want advice about a career decision, relief from stress, a boost in confidence, or a roadmap for change. But here’s the truth: the problem isn’t really the problem.

When I first discovered the world of coaching, I thought it was about giving answers, fixing situations, or helping people “solve” things faster. I imagined a coach as someone with a toolkit of ready-made solutions.

But then I learned something that changed everything.

Real coaching isn’t about tackling surface-level issues. It’s about expanding the way you see yourself, your thinking, your choices, and your possibilities.

Coaching the Person, Not the Problem

Marcia Reynolds, in her book Coach the Person, Not the Problem, describes coaching as a process of “reflective inquiry.” Instead of treating the immediate problem as something to fix, the coach helps uncover the underlying patterns, beliefs, and assumptions shaping how a client experiences life.

In other words, coaching isn’t about putting a band-aid on the problem. It’s about shifting how you see yourself in relation to it.

That shift often creates the biggest breakthroughs.

The “aha moment” isn’t just about solving the dilemma – it’s about awakening to new ways of being.

What Coaching Really Is

  • A thought-provoking, creative partnership that helps you access your own wisdom.

  • A safe space to discover blind spots, reframe perspectives, and unlock clarity.

  • A process rooted in curiosity, deep listening, and powerful questioning.

  • A focus on who you’re becoming, not just what you’re doing.

What Coaching Is Not

  • Therapy: it doesn’t diagnose or process trauma; it looks toward the future.

  • Consulting: it’s not about someone handing you the answers.

  • A quick fix: true coaching creates sustainable growth and deeper exploration.

Why the Best Coaching Conversations Spark Awakening

The most powerful coaching conversations don’t end with a tidy solution.

They end with a shift.

That moment when you hear yourself say:

  • “I never saw it that way before.”

  • “That changes everything.”

  • “That feels more like me.”

Those moments matter. Because they reveal not just what’s possible, but who you are becoming.

Is Coaching for You?

If you’ve ever felt stuck…If you’ve been torn between choices…If you’re hungry for clarity, courage, or a deeper sense of alignment in your life…

This is where coaching shines.

Coaching gives you the space to hear your inner wisdom louder than your fears. It’s not about fixing you (you are not broken). It’s about helping you reconnect with your strengths, your truth, and your path forward.

I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel deeply heard, challenged with compassion, and supported in becoming the fullest version of themselves.
